Active TB case at JFK

Guam - An individual who has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis at John F Kennedy High School has been removed from the classroom. According to a media release from the Department of Public Health the individual has begun taking TB medications and will not return to the school until medical clearance is given.

Currently DPHSS is working with the school to identify those who may have been in close contact with the individual and recommend that they undergo TB screening. Skin tests will be administered for free to those identified as close contact on Tuesday, January 22nd from 8:30am – 12:00 noon at the upper Tumon campus. All identified students and staff are required to complete the TB Skin test by January 28, 2013 those who fail to comply will not be allowed to return to the campus.
